Hello, my name is Owen Hayden, and I am running as a candidate for Marion County Commission, District 4 as “NPA,” a candidate with No Political Party Affiliation.  I’d like to thank you for taking time to visit my website and learn about this campaign.

In the midst of the worst recession in recent history, Marion County’s citizens deserve a commissioner with a proven, successful business record.  Within my record, I have many years experience making budgets work smarter and more efficiently.  We must establish common sense in our local government, and elect officials who are willing to serve the people of Marion County above a political party or group.  As commissioner of Marion County, I will always put the needs of the people first.  I have an established record of honesty, integrity, and hard work, which I am eager to use in serving my fellow citizens.  I will always stand for what is right in my heart.

My vision for the future of Marion County is to get jobs here by becoming a business-friendly community, not just for incoming businesses, but existing businesses as well.  To reduce unemployment, we must develop a business district for new manufacturers with appropriate infrastructure in place.  With jobs, we can get this community moving forward, instead of continuing to slide backwards as we have done the past three years.  Marion County failed to diversify the job market, and a healthy job market needs diversification.   

I ask that you elect the candidate with the strongest record as a proven leader.   My strong work ethic and the ability to make good common sense decisions helped me to succeed in Marion County.  Over 25 years ago, I started my own business and established a long track record of success.  I’ve lived in Ocala for 38 years; this is my home, my family’s hometown, and I only want the best for every citizen of Marion County.  I will make this position my full time job, and serve as a hands-on commissioner, working with the employees of Marion County as much as possible.  I am not connected to or concerned with any political group or agenda - just the citizens of Marion County.
